Trees: Their Importance in The Bible

I’ve been writing a lot lately about scriptures, so today, I want to continue the same theme and share with you a few bible verses with trees, their importance, and examples.

Trees are everywhere; no matter where you turn, chances are you’ll see trees.

But have you ever stopped to think about trees and their significance? Have you ever wondered if there are more to trees other than those familiar purposes, we know them for?

What is even more thought-provoking is the mention of trees in the bible.

Think about it; the bible is the single most important book ever written detailing selected events in ancient times.

But at the same time, the bible only has 66 books which means that every word documented in the scriptures counts.

For this reason, we can conclude that trees, because they are mentioned in the bible are very important and something we shouldn’t take lightly.

That being the case, let’s look a little deeper into these bible verses with trees and see how much we can uncover a few hidden truths about trees in the bible, or wherever they are found.

So, without further ado, let’s see which bible verses speak about trees.

What is the significance of trees in the bible?

Trees are historical, physically, they are vital because they give us oxygen, stabilize the soil, store carbon, and give life to the world’s wildlife.

But in the bible, trees represent stability, favor, prosperity, and growth. Trees are the true shelters on the earth, and having them is synonymous with wealth and abundance.

What is the spiritual meaning of trees in the bible?

If you see trees, especially green trees in your dreams it’s a sign that you’re growing and excelling at something.

For example, here what Psalm 1: 3 says “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

What does the bible say about Christmas trees?

Nothing, Christmas trees aren’t mentioned anywhere in the bible, it’s a phrase coin by men.

What does the bible say about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.

The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:9).

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16–17).

I’ll be frank with you, there’s no one I know or nowhere recorded in scriptures what the about the knowledge of good and evil is.

There are a lot of theories and speculations, but no one can validate their claims with solid proof in the scriptures.

How many references to trees are they in the bible?

A little over 136 times according to the King James Version Bible.

What is the first tree mentioned in the bible?

Fruit tree. Genisis 1:11 “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Gen 1:12 “And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Gen 1:29 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you, it shall be for meat.”

A final word on bible verses with trees

Trees are important, whether to God or for men; they play a vital role in our lives. Spiritually, trees represent wealth, good health, prosperity, and good fortune.

We must never downplay the role of trees, but ask God to open our eyes to their meaning every time we cross their path.
