Top 15 Psalms About Power You Need to Read

I find myself writing more and more about Psalms lately. The book of Psalms is a powerful collection of scriptures that has a solution for any situation in life. So today, I will continue the trend and share a few short but powerful Psalms about power with you.

Nehemiah 8:10 says, …” for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Strength (the power to stand and rebuke the power of darkness) works together with joy.

Not many saints know this, but Nehemiah 8:10 makes a clear connection between strength and joy.

When you are joyful, you are strong, and when you strong you will possess the power to combat and overthrow the works of darkness around you.

So if you haven’t read our article on “Psalms about sadness.” I would encourage you to do so now, then come back and continue reading these Psalms on power.

Why Power

Power is extremely important for the stability and maintenance of law and order in human societies.

Not just in human societies, but in the congregation of all living things.

That said, I want to look at power from a more spiritual position since there is where my focus lies.

The bible says in Ephesians 6:12 that “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

For this reason, the question of “why power,” is important because, without it, we will be at a disadvantage and the devil will always have the upper hand over us.

When you need healing and strength for your body, joy for your soul, prosperity in your life, or any promise that God has promised you, you will need the power to rebuke the devil and stop him from stealing God’s blessing for you.

Why the Psalms?

Psalms speak expressly more than any other book in the bible about deliverance and God’s power.

For this reason, the book of Psalms offers us a bird’ eye view of God’s power in manifestation and how God expects us to function as His children on the earth.

The Importance of Power

Those who have power are the ones who make the rules in any society; they are the ones who influence laws, culture, values, and other areas of life.

Likewise, spiritually, those who hold power will dominate the spiritual landscape, whether for good or evil.

So you see, power is very important, especially for the child of God crush anxiety, fear, and walk in God’s will.

Having power, God’s power working in your life puts you at an advantage over the devil and his devices.

Similarly, not having God’s power at work in your life gives the devil unlimited and unrestricted access to ruin your life. For this reason, every child of God needs to walk in God’s power daily.

Do You Need More of God’s Power in Your Life?

I’d be surprised if your answer is no. We all need more of God’s power in our lives.

Daily, new and stronger devils will try to stop us from enjoying God’s blessings.

For this reason, we need to increase God’s power in our lives to stand, confront and beat down the power of darkness around us.

How to See More of God’s Power Manifesting in Your Life?

It’s easier than you may think. Some people make it seem that God’s power is beyond our reach. But that is far from the truth, God is waiting for us to simply ask Him.

John 16:24 says, “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

Don’t get me wrong, when I say ask, I mean to ask while doing the other things that God requires. It’s not just asking for power in isolation but asking while obeying His commandments.

That said, here are a few simple things you can do to see more of God’s power manifesting in your life:

  • Read often: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8).
  • Meditate daily: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:18).
  • Pray with ceasing: “Pray without ceasing”(1 Thessalonians 5:17).
  • Praise God: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name”(Psalm 100:4).
  • Thank God: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

I promise you that if you do these seemingly simple things you’ll see God’s power manifesting in your life sooner than you think was possible.
