15 Psalms About Power To Read

I’ve found myself suddenly writing more and more about Psalms lately, so why not continue and share with you a few short but powerful Psalms about power.

Why Power

Power is extremely important to the stability and maintaining law and order in human societies. And not just in human societies, but in the congregation of all living things.

That said, I want to look at power from a spiritual position since there is where my focus lies. The bible says in Ephesians 6:12 that “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

For this reason, the question of “why power,” is important because, without it, we will be at a disadvantage and the devil will always have the upper hand over us.

That being the case, here are ten mighty Psalms about power to remind you that God is powerful and he wants you to be too.

Why the Psalms?

Because the Psalms is the book that speaks expressly more than any other book in the bible about God’s power. Sure, the Psalms show us how prayer can take a wide variety of forms and deepen our awareness of God’s working in our lives. But above all things, the Psalms offer us a bird’ eye view of God’s power in manifestation.

The importance of power

The possers of power are the ones who can make or break any society, they are the ones who can influence laws, culture, values, and other areas of life.

Likewise, spiritually, those who hold the power will dominate the spiritual landscape, whether we like it or not.

So you see that power is very important, especially for the child of God. Having power, God’s power working in your life puts you at an advantage over the devil and his devices. Similarly, not having God’s power at work in your life gives the devil unlimited and unrestricted access to ruin your life. For this reason, every child of God needs to walk in God’s power daily.

Do you need more of God’s power in your life?

I’d be surprised if your answer is no. We all need more of God’s power in our lives.

New day; new and stronger devils, and as such, we need to increase in the power and might of the Holy Ghost to stand, confront and beat the powers of darkness into the ground.

How to see more of God’s power manifesting in your life?

It’s easier than you may think. Some people make it seem that God’s power is beyond our reach. But far from the truth, God is waiting for us to simply ask.

Don’t get me wrong, when I say ask, I mean to ask while doing the other things that God requires. It’s not just asking for power in isolation, with asking in obedience to His commands.

That said, here are a few simple things you can do to see more of God’s power manifesting in your life:

  • Read often: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8).
  • Meditate daily: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:18).
  • Pray with ceasing: “Pray without ceasing”(1 Thessalonians 5:17).
  • Praise God: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name”(Psalm 100:4).
  • Thank God: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

I promise you that if you do these seemingly simple things you’ll see God’s power manifesting in your life sooner than you think.
