40+ Best Healing Scriptures for Cancer Patients

I can only imagine how you feel right now, perhaps unable to sleep, extremely weak, and in pain.

But there’s HOPE, and as David rejoiced, “O Lord my God, I pleaded with you, and you gave me my health again. 3 You brought me back from the brink of the grave, from death itself, and here I am alive! (Psalm 30:2-3), you soon will too.

The Word of God is extremely important to persons who are fighting a battle with cancer, for often, the scripture is the only hope they have remaining.

Dodie Osteen was in a similar position in 1981 when she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer; her doctors had only given her a few weeks to live, but Dodie held on to something; the Word. The following are the scriptures she used to overcome cancer and you too can confess them over your life.

You Too Can Be Freed From Cancer… Only Believe!

Dodie Osteen and Cancer

The Word was the only thing Dodie had, and she would have died had she not believed and stood her ground for healing.

That was back in 1981; fast forward to 2022, and Dodie Osteen is still alive, strong doing God’s work, and cancer-free.

Like Dodie, you can be set free from cancer, but it will require your participation and willingness to learn the truth in scriptures and then apply it to your life.

Scriptures teach us that God doesn’t want us sick, and neither does He inflict anyone with sickness; sure, He may allow it, but He isn’t the author of it.

To further emphasize that God wants us well, He sent Jesus Christ into this world to heal the sick, which shows that sickness isn’t from God but satan

“… God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38)

Believe me, when I say that the devil doesn’t want you to know the truth found in the Bible. The devil would prefer you not to know and perish.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”(Hosea 4:6).

The truth will set you free, and the first thing you need to know is that all sickness falls under the curse of the law.

” Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed” – Deu 28:61. (The Lord will permit sickness to come on people because nothing evil can come from God; only perfect good things).

But in Galatians 3:13-14, we read: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

As you can see, you are no longer under the curse of the law, which consists of sickness, poverty, and death, but you have been redeemed and can now receive the blessing of Abraham and the promise of the Spirit.

Sadly, not many people know that it is God’s will to heal them, and this information the difference between life and death.

God’s Word is truth; He cares for you, and if He can heal Dodie Osteen of cancer, He sure can for you.

God Healed Dodie Osteen from Cancer

Dodie Osteen was a devout Christian, a mother, a faithful minister of the gospel, and a wife of a pastor. She was always healthy, super active, and full of energy. Her life was going great and she and her husband John was finally looking to make the best of their newfound freedom now that the kids were all grown.

But tragedy struck, and she found out she had metastatic cancer of the liver in 1981. It was hard for Dodie, the doctors had given up on her and told her husband John that she only had a few weeks to live.

The Osteen was told by the doctors that the only thing they can do was to perform exploratory surgery on Dodie but she would still die.

Pastor Osteen wasn’t going to allow this to happen, so he took his wife and carried her home after spending 20 days at the hospital.

Did pastor John make the right decision? Shouldn’t he had allowed the doctors to keep Dodie at the hospital to perform the surgery since this was her best, though thin, the chance of getting medical and scientific help to save her life. We’ll soon find out.

Things went from bad to worst when Dodie came home.

Dodie needed to be cared for; someone had to always be by her side; her body, and at times mind didn’t allow her to do much. It was getting to the point where you thought death was inevitable and the best outcome for Dodie due to her condition.

Dodie prayed, her husband prayed, her kids, her parents, and her church believed and prayed with fasting for her healing. But she wasn’t healed, faith healers like Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin, the T.L Osborns, and Kenneth Copeland all prayed for her too, but she wasn’t healed.

She was in great pain, weak, and a far cry from what she used to be when she was healthy.

“Your faith that must go on now,” God said to Dodie.

One night while everyone was asleep, in the early hours of the morning, the Lord spoke to her heart and said ” It is not your husband’s faith; it is not Oral Roberts faith; it is not Kenneth Hagin’s faith; it is YOUR faith that must go on now.”

The fight of faith

Let me say this; when it comes to believing in God for healing there are no half measures. You will have to go all-in; God’s Word or nothing, which is what Dodie did to get her healing.

Upon reaching home, Dodie told her husband that they had no other choice but to agree and believe in God for healing. That was the first day they got home from the hospital and they knee down, face flat on the floor, and prayed the prayer of agreement, it says, “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven (Matthew 18:19).

That was the day that Dodie received healing in her heart; the symptoms were still there, and in fact, it took a long time to leave her body, but she believed God with all her heart and that was the difference between life and death.

Don’t act sick

Another thing that Dodie did that helped her overcome cancer and encouraged her faith was by continuing to do those things she was so accustomed to doing (house chores, visiting the sick, praying for the sick, attending church).

Sure, she was very weak, and while praying for a sick man she almost collapsed, but still, she forced herself to help others.

The key to getting your prayers manifest faster is by helping others while you are in need of help yourself. Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…”

James 5:16 says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed….”

The word became her life

In spite of her powerful confessions, the very discouraging remained, they refused to line up with Dodie’s confessions. But did not stop Dodie, she keep going to the point where God’s Word became her life.

She had absolute confidence in God’s Word, Hebrews 10:13 says, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.”

At this point, Dodie was reading God’s Word daily; confessing His promises, and wouldn’t leave the house without going through God’s Word.

The fight with fear

The devil said, “you will die, you only have a few weeks to live.” But Dodie said, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation (Psalm 91:16).

Many times fear tried to overwhelmed Dodie, but God’s Word was her strength and source of encouragement.

No more cancer

The metastatic cancer of the liver left, and now many years later, Dodie is still cancer-free, happy, healthy, and living a faithful life. To God be the glory, great things He has done.

You too can receive healing like Dodie by following what she did; “she choose to believe God’s Word and acted in faith.” I would encourage you to go and do the same.

How Do You Pray for Someone with Cancer?

Your prayers should be focused on God’s Word and not how the state of the person and the pain they are experiencing. Ask God to heal them and to give them the courage and strength to endure and fight on until healing manifests.

Prayer for Someone Who has Cancer

Father, I ask for your help and guidance during this difficult moment in my life. Deepen my faith so I may accept your Word as truth.

Give me the courage and strength to live each day to confess your Word over my life.

Grant me the strength to deal with fear and instill in me the hope of your salvation to anchor my thoughts and actions.

In my darkest moments, touch me with your love so that I may feel your presence.

Help me to remember that I have been redeemed from the curse of the law, that I have been translated from darkness to light, from sickness to health, and from death to life.

Your Word is final, and may each day your signature of love, integrity, and peace and healing be present in my life.

Also, let me not forget to give and help those in need and who are in pain and other vicissitudes of life. Shower your love, peace, healing, strength, and courage upon them, in Jesus Christ’s Name, Amen.

What Does the Bible Say About Healing Cancer?

You don’t find the word cancer in the Bible, but cancer is a disease to which the Bible speaks about. For example, Jesus healed many people with all kinds of sickness and disease, any of those could have been cancer under a different name.

In 2 Kings 20:6-8, King Hezekiah had a disease that could have been cancer under a different name. Through Jesus Christ, God has healed His people from every disease, cancer included.

Moreover, cancer is a disease that came about from sin, and if you are living in sin, you are cursed according to the law, and sickness along with poverty and death are curses of the law. See, Deuteronomy 28:15, 61

“If you do not obey the LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you… (V 15).”

“The LORD will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law until you are destroyed (V 61).”

But Galatians, 3:13-14, says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

For this reason, if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior; you can command cancer to leave your body because you are not living under the law but by faith.

Healing Scriptures for Breast Cancer

Faith takes work, and healing for breast cancer or any type of sickness to that matter, except on rare occasions, doesn’t just happen on its own.

Faith is active and alive, it must be pursued and acted upon to see results. God’s Word is truth and it would take faith to see it come to pass in your life.

For this reason, speak these scriptures and confessions over your life to strengthen your faith in God so that you may receive your healing for breast cancer. Jesus paid for it; you are healed!

Matthew 18:18-19

“I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Mark 16:17-18

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Romans 4:17-21

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead–since he was about a hundred years old–and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised.

Romans 8:11

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
